This is a reminder about our lockdown drill tomorrow.
Newport School District will be conducting a lockdown drill on the morning of October 24th, 2023 at 8:20 AM. This will involve local law enforcement, both city and county and our faculty, staff, and students are aware of this drill. These drills can take up to an hour to complete. This announcement is an effort to inform the community so as not to cause any undue alarm or stress. If your child has an appointment or will be arriving late for any reason that day, please plan accordingly because no one will be allowed to enter or leave campus until the conclusion of the drill. As always, we take the safety and security of our students very seriously and appreciate your cooperation and support in our efforts.

Journalism and East classes visited KAIT 8 in Jonesboro today. They got to tour the newsroom and control room. Anchor Diana Davis and Meteorologist Aaron Castleberry met with them and answered questions. Some got to try their hand at telling the weather. They even got to hear some breaking news minutes after it happened. It was a great trip.

Reminder to parents to turn in your registration forms for our Pink Out Cheer Clinic! Newport Junior and Senior High cheer will be hosting this clinic October 2 and 4 from 4:00-5:30 for K-6 grade girls!! They will get to perform Friday, October 6th at halftime of the football game! Cost is $30 and includes a cute Pink Out tshirt! Turn in registration forms to your teacher no later than next Wednesday, September 27th. OR, you can register online at https://osp.osmsinc.com/p/TJ315-1! But, make SURE to include your child’s name, teacher, grade and tshirt size in step 3 of 4 in purchase notes! 💕

Congrats to the Newport Boys Golf team for winning today shooting a team score of a 117! Jake Keedy shooting a 39, and Sam Doyle shooting a 44!
Reece Kieffner won top medalist shooting a 36. We are gearing up for District Tuesday at Village Creek The Ridges. What a great season!

Congrats to Reece Kieffner for playing a great round of golf yesterday Monday Sept. 11, Reece shot a 33 at Newport Country Club,he got 2nd Place 🥈overall. Congrats to Madison Lovelady shooting her a 48, she got 3rd place 🥉overall on the girls. There was some great golf yesterday: Trumann, Hillcrest, Newport, and Tuckerman.

Due to excessive heat warnings for the game Friday night, Newport and Osceola coaches and administrators have come to the following agreement.
The coaches will evaluate at halftime and have the option to shorten the second half by shortening the 3rd and 4th quarters to 10 min. This decision would be based out of necessity for the safety of our players, cheerleaders, and band members.
We would also recommend to our fans you consider any personal health issues that might be affected by the excessive heat. Please make your attendance decision based on what is best for you personally. For your convenience, the game will be live streamed on Cable 15 that can be found on YouTube and Facebook.
